Anne Davison

Equipped with a master's degree in cello performance from the University of Ottawa, Anne Davison continues to grace both national and international stages.  Comfortable in a range of roles from soloist to collaborator, Anne’s versatility is undeniable.  While she has performed with many traditional chamber groups and orchestras across Canada, Anne has also guested with non-classical artists including Holy Cole, Jeff Martin, and Kanye West.  Since 2005, Anne and ukulele master James Hill have toured as a duo in Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Italy, Denmark and Sweden.  They will release their debut album on the Borealis record label in March 2009.
Anne has been heard on Ottawa's CKCU show Special Blend, CHUO's Click Here and has been a regular on CBC Radio Canada, appearing on Studio Sparks, The Vinyl Cafe, and Canada Live.  She can also be heard on recordings with folk artists Bruce Cockburn, Ian Tamblyn, and Alise Marlane, among others.
Since 2003, Anne has created a series of ArModa (short for "Art Music meets Modern Dance") works where she simultaneously plays cello and dances.  “Each of her performances is a dynamic and expressively moving event. To see and hear one woman accomplish all of these elements together so effectively is a true wonder!”  (Steven Gellman).  Passionate about music education, Anne also teaches private and group cello lessons in the Halifax and Truro areas in Nova Scotia.
