suddenlyLISTEN is all about showing our Halifax audiences amazing artists from around the world.

Artistic Director Norm Adams writes: “I’m fascinated with the voice of the artist. Sometimes this voice is cultivated, sometimes stumbled upon, and sometimes carefully crafted. Kim Myhr has a singular voice that is instantly identifiable, I can’t wait for you to hear it!”

Kim Myhr has been one of the leading voices on the experimental scene in Norway in recent years, both a composer and a guitarist. Myhr’s solo music can be described as an orchestral exploration of the 12-string guitar. He has released three solo records; “All your limbs singing” (SOFA 2014),  and «BLOOM» (HUBRO 2016), and «You | me», which came out on HUBRO in November 2017. The latter features contributions from drummers Tony Buck, Hans Hulbækmo and Ingar Zach, and recieved a “Honorary Mention” at Nordic Music Prize in 2018. It was nominated alongside Björk, Fever Ray and 9 other Nordic Artists.

Ingar Zach is also Norwegian, and is a percussionist and founder of Sofa Records, one of creative music’s most important labels. He has toured the world and recorded and collaborated with many top artists.

Kim and Ingar will be coming straight from Victoriaville, where they will be performing on the MainStage with Kim’s larger project You | me. We’re pretty excited!

Geordie Haley and Andrew Miller are constant collaborators, performers, teachers and champions of creative music in Halifax. They play together a lot in various combinations, and as this duo, and will be a great compliment for Kim and Ingar.
