Pierre-Yves Martel – Montreal: viol
Carl Ludwig Hübsch – Cologne: tuba/objects
Philip Zoubek – Cologne: prepared piano
Music that transports the listener to wondrous landscapes of secrecy and transparency. Highly virtuosic and with a rich vocabulary of extended techniques, these three musicians tell a captivating story. A quiet and pointillistic communication and a surprisingly new combination of instruments: viola da gamba, piano and tuba.
Since the release of their first album Carl Ludwig Hübsch, Pierre-Yves Martel and Philip Zoubek have been playing as a trio since 2012. Their album June 16, released on the Berlin-based record label Schraum, was released the following year to great critical acclaim. A second album will come out on the Canadian label Tour de bras in September 2016. Hübsch Martel Zoubek have performed concerts across Europe (Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland), two of which were recorded for the Austrian and French national radios.
