This concert brings together some of the great improvisers from at home and abroad. It is the first evening of a two night Mini-Fest of improvised music and new compositions on November 11 and 12.

The first set is Collateral, a trio formed for suddenlyLISTEN in 2014. Luckily, the concert was recorded, and it became Collateral, a CD that is being launched and toured across Canada in 2017/18, from Newfoundland to British Columbia! You know these musicians, and if you missed them in 2014, get ready for 2017, this will the third stop in their east to west tour, and they’ll be ready to go!

The second set will feature November’s special guest artist Scott Thomson. Scott plays in Halifax almost every year, and each time we are astounded by his imagination and intelligence. We most recently heard him leading the late, great Ken Aldcroft’s Convergence Ensemble. This year, Scott teams up with the Bull/Turner duo. Arthur Bull and the legendary English drummer Roger Turner have played together all over the world.

This concert will be a rare opportunity to listen to a lot of music in one sitting. Please don’t miss it!
