Tanya Kalmanovitch

with Norm Adams, Andrew Reed Miller and Donald MacLennan

The Bus Stop Theatre

2203 Gottingen Street, Halifax
$20 or pay what you can

Artistic Director Norm Adams writes: “I first encountered Tanya Kalmanovitch when I supported a Kickstarter campaign to release her recording with the great American violist Mat Maneri. On this recording I heard a beautiful, microtonal world with a quality of exceptional and virtuosic clarity. It was super exciting and inspiring! Then I learned Tanya was Canadian, shared a very similar musical background to my own, taught musical entrepreneurship, and the deal was sealed! She is an artist with a broad palette, performing and composing music, creating theatre, blogging, teaching, and more! This concert will assemble a string quartet that includes Tanya, Donald MacLennan, (wild card, virtuoso violinist), Andrew Miller (sound sculpting bassist) and myself playing graphic scores and free improvisations. Tanya will be leading a workshop or two and we may even get to experience some of her theatrical piece “Tar Sands Songbook”!”
