comingEVENTS
Here is a listing of our Main Series Concerts for our 10th Anniversary Season! Spin 8pm, September 10, 2010 1313 Hollis Street $20/$10
Martin Tétreault – turntables
Norman Adams – cello/processing
D’Arcy Gray – percussion
This concert features unique turntablist Martin Tetreault, who comes from a visual art background, so is not anchored by traditional turntable techniques. He scratches vinyl, the platter itself, and other objects, amplifying parts of the turntable even! He has labeled himself a “bruitist” but he can also spin records and make sounds that are melodic, and tonal.

Lilian Piercey Concert Hall
Maritime Conservatory of the Performing Arts
6199 Chebucto Road
$20/$10
Lee Pui Ming – piano
Norman Adams – cello
Erin Donovan – percussion
This trio first collaborated in 2005. The result was one of my favourite concerts. The music is peaceful, almost tuneful, but punctuated by moments of hilarious musical anarchy! I think of colours when I imagine this concert.

Gerry Hemingway is one of the significant creative musicians of the past 30 years. He has played as a soloist and collaborated with all of the best musicians, most significantly Anthony Braxton, and with other groups that have played together for years. He tours and plays constantly, a wide range of music from modern jazz to more classical type compositions. He is sooo heavy! The Crofts/Adams/Pearse trio has played together for 4 years, and realeased one CD Sonomatopia. This concert will be recorded for a second release.

EHRES featuring Pauline Oliveros
Pauline Oliveros – accordion/electronics
Ione – words/processing
Norman Adams –
cello/processing
John DS Adams –
electronics
Pauline first came here in 2004 and EHRES was born. Since then we’ve played shows in Ontario, New York and worked together in Banff. She is one of my most influential teachers, and the teacher of many others, through her Deep Listening practice. She is a senior American artist - at the source when electronic music was invented, a revolutionary woman. Our concerts create an immersive environment when sounds travel around the room through 8 speakers, little words pop up unexpectantly, it’s an amazing experience to be in the middle of! for more information contact us here |
