Tim Crofts

Tim Crofts completed his undergraduate degree in music from Dalhousie University in 2001 with concentration in Piano Performance and Composition. From 2002 until 2005 he completed a Masters degree in the department of Contemporary Improvisation at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. During his time at NEC, Tim studied with Bob Moses, Joe Maneri, Hankus Netsky and George Russell. In 2002 Tim formed the chamber group Consensus that focused on atonal and non-traditional chamber improvisation. Currently, Tim resides in Halifax teaching at both Dalhousie University and the Canadian Conservatory of Music. Mr. Crofts has founded various improvisation ensembles including: Russian Dragons, Volume III, Live Animal, The Still Life trio, Consensus and This That & the Other. In addition, Mr.Crofts is an active participant in the Upstream Music Association as well as with suddenlyLISTEN where he co-hosts a bi-weekly improvisation workshop with Norman Adams.
