Est-Ouest with Eileen Walsh
Est-Ouest is a presentation of contemporary music inspired by the folk traditions of both Canada and Bulgaria, processed through the aesthetic visions of composers Svetlin Hristov, Adam Vincent Clarke, & Liam Elliot. The folk traditions of each other’s country served as the source material and inspiration for three new works, connecting foreign traditions to find how they diverge or interconnect. Symphony Nova Scotia clarinetist Eileen Walsh opens the show with Gannetry, a work for bass clarinet and bird sounds, by Glasgow based, but Halifax born, Emily Doolittle.
