Arthur Bull

 

Arthur Bull is a guitarist and harmonicist who has been active on the improvised music scene in Canada since the mid-1970s. He is currently a member of various groups, including Les Surruralistes (with Éric Normand), The Spokes (with Bob Vespaziani) and Monicker (with Roger Turner and Scott Thomson). Arthur has released more than 20 CDs, including collaborations with Daniel Heïkalo, Bob Vespaziani, Hank Bull and John Heward, as well as the above named groups.  He has performed in concert with many notable Canadian and international improvisers, including Roscoe Mitchell, John Tchicai, Roger Turner, John Russell, Peter Kowald, Joe McPhee, Paul Rutherford, Phil Minton, John Butcher, Michael Snow, Paul Dutton, John Oswald, Yumiko Tanaka, Fabrizio Spera, Mike Cooper and many others. His recent tours include Japan, Europe, Mexico and Australia/New Zealand. He is also a writer, and has published five books of poetry. Arthur Bull lives in Lake Midway, Nova Scotia.
