Notes and Bios
Glass Plate No. 3 unfolds like a discovered artifact - archival, precise, and quietly uncanny. The work frames three characters without ever fully explaining them, as if they are caught within an image that cannot quite settle. Their relationships loop, fracture, and reform. They are playful, absurd, and gently disoriented. Moments repeat with subtle shifts, as if the plate has been exposed more than once, each imprint slightly misaligned. What emerges is a study of connection and abandonment: figures who drift toward and away from one another, never fully fixed, never entirely lost.
'Mercurials' by Lydia Zimmer explores the psychology of delusion through unpredictable shifts in mood and movement. Inspired by the toxic beauty of the element mercury, the work moves between softness and sharp precision, revealing the danger that can exist beneath allure. This excerpt is performed by Anastasia Wiebe and Lydia Zimmer.
'If you forget me' is a solo performed by Lydia Zimmer that premiered at Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal, 2021. Set to Pablo Neruda's "If You Forget Me," spoken by Madonna, this solo explores the fragile traces people leave behind; glimpses of memories and promises spoken through gesture.
