Chimera Trio is the bicoastal musical meeting of three of Canada’s most active and dedicated improvisers: François Houle, Norman Adams and Tim Crofts. Together, Chimera Trio spontaneously creates music in the moment, through listening, virtuosity and the harnessing of years of experience in performance and creation. Chimera Trio’s aesthetic is born in free jazz and the contemporary new music of the American and European avant-garde, mixed with individual broad musical experience, creating a uniquely Canadian sound.
Constellations, is a series of compositions and improvisations gleaned from the various relationships and combinations found in this trio. The recording was created mid pandemic, in a series of virtual recording sessions held between Halifax and Vancouver, and has been released on the Afterday Audio label.
