More Travels!

Norm Adams

suddenlyLISTEN and I are so happy to announce that A:B, my duo with my friend Italian cellist, Nicola Baroni of Bologna, will undertake a five city European tour this fall! The tour begins September 22 in London at the Colourscape Festival, (called "Europe's most unusual festival") and continues on to performances at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, a concert in Bologna, Italy in cooperation with MASKFest, and culminates with a performance and artist talks at the prestigious La Biennale di Venezia in Venice!

In London and Bologna, A:B will be playing a cello duo by Nova Scotia’s Jerome Blais, along with pieces for celli with computer augmentation by Arne Eigenfeldt of Vancouver, Lawrence Casserley of the UK, and Baroni. In Scotland we will perform works by Yati Durand, Massimiliano Messieri and Baroni. Finally in Venice, A:B will premiere a new work by Nova Scotia’s Derek Charke, along with the Blais, Eigenfeldt, Casserley and Baroni works.

La Biennale is one of Europe’s largest arts festivals, attracting over 500 000 people each year. Blais and Charke have been invited to Venice to speak about their work, and Adams and Baroni will also speak about the motivations to augment the cello. We can't wait!

suddenlyLISTEN is grateful to the Nova Scotia Creative Industries Fund for supporting the production of this tour and in assisting both Derek and Jerome to travel to Venice for this exceptional opportunity! We are all looking forward to flying the Nova Scotian, and Canadian flags in Venice, and all of the stops on this tour.

Watch this blog for daily additions as I set out, on September 20!
